Watkins, Aug. 19, 1836, Coosa Land Dist., 3 20 acres. E-mail from Wanda Watkins, Seattle, rhodyrun@hotmail.com Dec. 2002 states: The earliest Coosa County record for this pioneer Watkins Family was in 18 33 when Rial Watkins and his mother, Agnes, were securities for Jam es P. Daniel, guardian of Spencer Daniels's orphan, Luisa. Rial, James a nd Thornton were sons of Jonathan Watkins and Agnes Daniel, who married Oc tober 2, 1805, in Knox Co., Ky. Little is known about Jonathan or his oth er children. Jonathan and his brother, Joel, were the sons of John and El eanor Watkins of Botetcourt Co., Va. Agnes and her three known sons migra ted Coosa Co., as did Joel's son, Baker E. Watkins. Mrs. Agnes Watkins w as head of housefold for twenty-two persons in the 1840 Coosa census, whi ch cited eight white males, five white females and nine slaves. In Janua ry 1851, Agnes made application for the settlement of Drucilla Daniel's es tate in the Coosa Probate Court. The distributes were Thomas Daniel, Dav id Daniel, James P. Daniel (Coosa Co. deputy clerk) and " the administrato r, Agnes Watkins formally Agnes Daniel".
